New Player Information
Interested in playing golf with our group? We'd love for you to join us and check us out on Saturday. The following information will explain about the MCGA, our golf events and will help you with how to get started with us.
What Is The MCGA?
The MCGA is a golf association and it's also a golf league but without the formal commitment to play every single week. While golf is the central focus of our group, we cherish the relationships just as much.
The MCGA season lasts a full year and consists of single, one-day golf tournaments (events) held every Saturday morning at different golf courses in and around San Antonio. There are no minimum requirement for how much golf an MCGA member must play. A member can play once, twice or 50 times in a season. It's up to them.

How Do MCGA Events Work?
An MCGA event is held as individual stroke play using low net score. The majority of MCGA events commence Saturday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in a shotgun start format meaning that all golfers start and finish at about the same time. The field is divided into smaller "flights" to have golfers of similar handicaps compete together. Player groupings and tee assignments are handled by the MCGA, but special pairing requests will be considered.
Players tee off from the same set of tee boxes during a round, but due to differences in ages, gender and handicaps, some players have additional options. Those are explained here.
During a normal round there are a number of different "pools" that members can compete in. Non-members have a smaller number of pools that they are eligible for. A full explanation of all of the pools can be found here.

What Do I Need To Do To Play?
Mission City Golf Association (MCGA) events are open to guests and non-members, 18 years of age or older. All players regardless of skill level are welcome to play. All one needs to do in order to play is to visit the sign up page for the next event and sign up. That's it. Show up for that event, visit the golf course pro shop and pay the course's green fee/cart fee and then check in with our personnel for further instructions. They're typically set up somewhere near where the golf cart staging area is located.
How Do I Become A Member?
As stated above membership is not mandatory in order to play with our group. However one can become a member once they have completed five rounds of golf with our group, have paid the annual membership and have been voted in by the members.
