League Software FAQ'S
What is the Golf League Software?
The MCGA is using Handicomp Golf League Network software to tabulate our golf rounds, calculate the results of our skins and low net pools, track our scores, provide and maintain golf handicaps and other golf league statistics for its members. Members can access the Golf League Network with a computer and an internet browser.
There is a mobile app, but has limited features at this point. The mobile app primarily allows members to use their phones to keep score during their round in real time (Live Scoring). More features for the mobile app are being worked on by the developer and will be released soon.

How Is My Handicap Calculated?
The Handicomp Golf Handicap System (HGHS) uses a formula applied to a set of scores that produces a Base Handicap. The Base Handicap is portable and is translated to a Tee Handicap relative to course difficulty. The formula is proprietary and is not published. However, it is applied equally to all who use it.
The HGHS handicap is based on 9-hole scores. So, if you use the system for 18-hole play, all 18-hole scores are reduced to 9-hole scores, which are then applied to the chart. (The system also assumes that the majority of golfers' 18-hole scores are not comprised of the same 9-hole score, i.e. 43 + 43 = 86) In effect, 9-hole Base Handicaps are computed from the best 12 of the last 20 9-hole scores, and 18-hole Base Handicaps are computed by multiplying the 9-hole Base Handicap by 2.
Note: The HGHS does not use any components of the USGA Handicap System including Slope and Course Rating. The HGHS was designed to be completely apart from the USGA's system so there would be no conflict or overlap between them.

What is Live Scoring?
The Live Scoring feature allows MCGA members to get the results of the round quicker. Using an app on their mobile phone, golfers enter the scores for their groups after each hole is played. Those scores are pushed out to a server and at the end of the round tabulated and sent to the Golf League Network where the pools like skins, birdies and low net are computed.
